Introducing Mark Bennett, New Headteacher of Woodlands Primary School

We are pleased to announce that Mark Bennett will be joining Woodlands Primary School as the new headteacher starting September.

Mark brings extensive experience and a passion for primary education, and we are excited to see him lead Woodlands into a new era of excellence.

About Mark

Mark began his teaching career as a Year 1 teacher in Rotherham and soon moved to Year 6, where he played a key role in significantly improving the school’s performance. He later served as deputy headteacher at Brinsworth Manor Junior School, overseeing curriculum development and teaching strategies.

In 2020, he became headteacher of Blackburn Primary School, successfully navigating numerous challenges and consistently achieving above the national average.

Mark is eager to bring his expertise and enthusiasm to Woodlands Primary School and our trust, collaborating with staff, children, and the community to foster an environment of continuous improvement.

Neil Miley, CEO Designate of Mercia Learning Trust said:

We are delighted that Mark will join us as the new headteacher at Woodlands Primary School.

His experience of headship in another setting, and his focus on supporting children to be successful in all areas of their education will mean the whole community at Woodlands will continue to flourish and grow.

The school governors said:

We're really excited that Mark is joining us. He brings a wealth of experience and is already spending time in school finding out about the school and getting to know people.

We're looking forward to him beginning to lead us on the next stage of our Woodlands journey.

We look forward to welcoming Mark to our community and seeing the positive impact of his leadership.
